So, this year I pulled out all of my Halloween decor & supplies & was resolute that I would make these babies this year!! So, Here's my little mini-tutorial on the Floating Ghosts.
Supplies:
- Spray Starch
- Empty 2 liter soda bottle
- Floral Wire
- Styrofoam Ball
- Cheesecloth
I removed the plastic cap from the empty bottle & filled it with some pebbles to weigh it down. I placed the styrofoam ball on the top of the bottle, and carefully draped the cheesecloth over the whole thing.
The wire I used was white, so it's hard to see in the pic, but if you look carefully you can see the "arms" |
Lastly, spray the whole thing until well saturated with the spray starch. I actually tested mine & ended up giving it a couple of coats. The secret to getting it to stand up really well is to have enough pooled at the bottom to support it when you take it off your form when dry. You can place out in the sun (which I did) or use a hairdryer on a low setting (so as not to blow the whole thing over).

I added some punch eyes to the face too. |
Thanks for looking at my ghostie!
Kill them with craftiness! ;)
